Playing football needs a lot of fitness, agility, strength, stamina, and stealth. Due to the game’s high physically challenging demands, the average age of retirement of footballers is around 35. After retirement, while some players invest their time and money towards television presenting and coaching, there are examples of some who have invested the same into football clubs. Below listed are some of them-

Phoenix Rising – Didier Drogba

Didier Drogba was a striker for the Ivory Coast national football team. He is the all-time top scorer for the team. He has also been the captain of the team. Along with this, he also had a glorious career with the Chelsea football club. He retired from professional football on 8th November 2018.

Phoenix Rising FC is an American football club founded in 2014. It is based in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2017, Didier Drogba was signed by the club in a free transfer. In the process, he purchased an ownership stake in the club, thus making him the first person in the football history who owned the club as well as played for it.

Miami Fc – Paolo Maldini

Paolo Maldini is an Italian footballer often hailed as the most excellent defender in football history. He played for the Italian national team and A.C. Milan. He retired in 2009 at the age of 41.

Miami FC is an American second division club co-founded by Paolo Maldini. He owns a 50% stake in the club. According to Maldini, Miami is his second home, and hence he wanted to spend more time in Miami by investing in this football club. The club won the Spring and Fall NASL season in 2017.

Real Valladolid – Ronaldo

Ronaldo, often considered as one of the greatest players of all time, is a Brazilian striker who retired in 2011.

In September 2018, he became the owner of Real Valladolid by buying a 51% ownership stake in the club. The team has been promoted and plays in La Liga. Previously, Ronaldo also owned a minority stake in an NASL club called Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The club was dissolved in 2016.

Inter Miami CF – David Beckham

David Beckham is a famous English soccer star with a long career spanning around 20 years. In this long period, he played for teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and the England national team. He retired in May 2013.

Inter Miami CF, or Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami, is an American soccer club. It is based in the Miami metropolitan area. It is owned and presided over by David Beckham who bought it for around $25 million.

San Diego 1904 FC – Demba Ba and Eden Hazard

San Diego 1904 FC is an American football club that was founded in 2016 and is based in California, USA. It is co-owned by Demba Ba and Eden Hazard, who plays for the national teams of Senegal and Belgium respectively. It was the first member of the National Independent Soccer Association, a Division III league.
